Puppy

My RL dog passed away today. I wish I could say more, something eloquent, something that explained how much a part of our lives she was, or how she was my fuzzy relief in some terribly difficult times. More prosaically, she was the inspiration and model for many of my SecondLife animals. Her myriad of expressions live on through my clumsy hands that way, at least.

But words fail me. In the end, she was a dog, and dogs are love. In my better moments, I hope to be half as goodhearted and cheerful as she was. I owe her that, I think.

I've only lost a goldfish and that had me devastated - I can't imagine what losing a dog feels like. I'm very sorry :(

Oh, Vee! I am so very sorry. I know what she meant to you, we've talked about her health at length in world. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy and concern at your loss. I lost Nixon last year, and Scarlett is fading far swifter than I would like. My only consolation was that I gave them the best life I could, and they returned my love for them one hundredfold. I know you feel the same way about your puppy.

I didn't think Nixon was replaceable, but I made a point (mostly for Scarlett's sake) to adopt another dog, an 8 year old pug named Gabby (merely a coincidence), whom I have nicknamed "the Grumbler". I think the action did me more good than it did Scarlett...

Oh Miss Virrginia, I am so sorry for your loss. Our animals are truly members of our family. I am sure Puppy had a fully and good live with you.

You have my prayers and sympathy.

I'm so sorry, Virrginia! I know you went through a lot with that dog, and she stood by you through a lot, as well. I hope you can find peace after her passing.

Thank you all. Your thoughts mean a great deal. As Hotspur said, she had been sick for a year with kidney problems. Frankly, we expected her to die month ago, but nobody seemed to have told her that. She was cheerful and good spirited until the very end, and even in the last awful two days, she would still wag her tail and gently lick us when we held her. And we held her a lot.

Dear Miss Virrginia,

I'm so sorry to read of your loss. I can sympathize far too well.

Although it won't really help for a while, there's some comfort in knowing you had her for as long as you did, and she left you knowing how much she was loved.

I only just saw this. So sorry, V! I think she had a happy home, and is waiting for you in a better place.
